Convenient With Added Risks

How can we ensure a safe place with all the surrounding technology? As we enter into this technology world, we become faced with many issues. Whether that would be connecting to an insecure WiFi network, living with an infiltrated camera, or even extending your network to friends can pose a risk. However, by taking a few simple measures you can ensure your safety.

Use Unique Passwords
It is convenient for the users to have an easy-to-remember password, but that gives the added risk of a hacker getting into your information. A lot of us are culprits for utilizing the same password for multiple different sites, which increases the chances of getting hacked. In this technological age, we all must keep track of those unique passwords in order to decrease our chances of a possible hacking.

Secure Your Devices
Since, there are an increase of security threats, some companies have offered two-factor authentication. This works in a new and improved way. For instance, when you attempt to log into an app; a one-time-use code would be sent to another device, which would then insert that code into the original app. This ensures and makes it almost impossible for an unwanted person to get into your app or account.

Who Is Responsible For Your Security
Security is something that is not meant to be played around with. It is serious and should not be taken lightly. After reading this article titled, How to Protect Your Smart Home From Hackers, published on the New York Times, allowed me to reflect on my bad habits regarding security on the Internet. Opening up all the possibilities that make it easier for a hacker is a scary thought, which is why I am taking each piece of advice into a deep consideration.
