IoT Devices are a lot more common than people probably anticipated. Whether it would be a smart speaker or a smart fridge, to everything in between. Below are a few examples of the most popular IoT devices that people own. Read at your own risk; the temptation to buy one of these IoT devices after reading will be greatly heightened. 

  • Amazon Echo 

    • Plays music from Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, etc. 
    • Has the ability to call or message anyone without the use of hands. 
    • Has the power to hear one speaking from across the room. 
    • Capable of: Reporting traffic and weather, answering questions, providing sport scores, controling lights, fans, garage doors, and tv's. 
    • To utilize Echo, all one has to say is, "Alexa."



  • Apple Watch Series 1 

    • Embraces a dual core processor, which means it is ready when the user is.
    • Helps monitor one's health by making the user more aware of their overall health. Has the ability to check the user's overall heart rate.
    • Alerts the user when a message or call comes in.
    • Has the ability to sync music playlists and it is able to be used with AirPods or other wireless headphones. 



  • Nest Thermostat 

    • Automatically adjusts to the user's life.
    • Ex: If at night time the user turns down the heat; Nest will make note of that and make it a part of the user's daily schedule. 
    • Nest Thermostats know when the user is not home by using sensors and the user's phone location. When the user is not home, the Nest Thermostat will go into 'Eco Temperature' to save energy. 
    • The utilization of the Nest App allows the user to control the temperature when the user is on the go.
